Excel: How to add leading zeros
You can use the Excel TEXT function to easily add leading zeroes when you need to provide the 10-digit Advance ID numbers, regardless of the number of digits in your original list.
- If you have a list of numbers in Column A, select an empty cell, then type “=TEXT(A2,”0000000000”)” then press Enter.
- If you are happy with the result, click the cell containing the text formula, then double-click your left mouse button to copy the formula down to the column.
- While the column is still highlighted, click your right mouse button, then drag the entries over to Column A. Release the right mouse button, then click “Copy Here as Values Only.”
